Job summary

Roper St. Francis Healthcare in North Charleston is seeking a Lab Tech Assistant to perform pre-analytical and analytical duties, including specimen registration, accessioning, and phlebotomy. You’ll maintain inventory, support technologists, and ensure proper processing of specimens in a busy lab.

The role requires high school education, with preferred associates in biology or chemistry, and prior lab exposure. Travel to off-site locations may be required; formal training is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED is required.
• Associates in Biology or Chemistry preferred.
• Laboratory experience preferred but not required.
• Keyboarding or data entry experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide excellent customer service.
• Collect blood specimens from patients and transport to the lab following venipuncture procedures.
• Support technologists with instruments, reagents, thawing, pooling, importing, and issuing blood products.
• Recognize instrument and equipment malfunctions and inform the appropriate personnel.
• Perform department clerical duties such as inventory checks and stocking supplies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
