Job summary

EnerSys's Precision Power Solutions (PPS) division is seeking a Chemistry Lab Technician in Florida to conduct chemical and physical tests, document results, and support production with quality-control activities. The role requires an Associate degree in a related field and strong attention to safety and procedures.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers and technicians, operate standard lab equipment, and adhere to ITAR-related access requirements as applicable to PPS projects.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Laboratory Science, or another related scientific field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and safety requirements in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience handling laboratory equipment and materials safely and accurately.
  • Ability to document and communicate technical information and experimental results clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate with scientists, engineers, technicians, and other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of chemical and physical tests and experiments using established laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Accurately document, analyze, and interpret experimental results and prepare detailed technical reports.
  • Conduct quality control testing and inspections to verify product quality and compliance with standards.

Job Purpose

The Chemistry Lab Technicianwould perform experiments, prepare samples, operate lab equipment, and analyze and record data to support production.Key duties include collaborating with production and testing team, testing materials as they are generated and adhering to safety protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of chemical and physical tests and experiments using established laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Accurately document, analyze, and interpret experimental results while preparing clear and detailed technical reports to communicate findings.
  • Conduct quality control testing and inspections to verify that products meet established quality standards, specifications, and requirements.
  • Follow established safety procedures and regulatory requirements, maintain a safe laboratory environment, and properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Assist chemists and engineers with laboratory activities, collaborate with cross-functional team members, and provide technical support as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Laboratory Science, or another related scientific field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions accurately and consistently while following established procedures and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment and handle laboratory equipment and materials appropriately.
  • Ability to accurately record, document, and communicate technical information and experimental results.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous laboratory experience in a chemical, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, environmental, or related scientific setting.
  • Experience operating standard laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Familiarity with chemical and physical testing methods and laboratory procedures.
  • Experience performing quality control testing and documenting test results.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and communicating scientific findings.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices, hazardous material handling, and applicable regulatory requirements.

General Job Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
