Job summary

EnerSys, via its Precision Power Solutions division, seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Technician in Florida to support the EHS Manager and ensure a safe, compliant work environment. Qualifications

  • Maintain compliance and organization of hazardous waste storage areas and inspections.
  • Collect, label, consolidate, and process hazardous waste per EPA/state/company rules.
  • Collect stormwater samples and assist with environmental monitoring.
  • Respond to chemical spill events and maintain spill response gear.

Responsibilities

  • Support EHS Manager in monitoring facility operations for safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform routine EHS inspections (ladders, exit lights, extinguishers, eyewash, etc.).
  • Assist with contractor safety oversight and site safety requirements.
  • Operate and maintain DI/RO water systems; complete preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, and environmental records.
  • Back up janitorial duties as needed and support EHS training activities.

Job Purpose

This position exists to assist the EHS Manager in monitoring the facility and employees to ensure safe, healthy, and regulatory compliant working conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician supports the EHS Manager in monitoring facility operations and employee activities to help ensure a safe, healthy, and regulatory-compliant work environment.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Maintain compliance and organization of the hazardous waste storage area, including hazardous waste inspections, universal waste management, and satellite accumulation areas.
  • Collect, label, consolidate, and process hazardous waste in accordance with EPA, state, and company requirements.
  • Collect stormwater samples and assist with environmental monitoring activities.
  • Respond to and assist with chemical spill response and cleanup activities; maintain spill response equipment and environmental emergency supplies.
  • Conduct routine Environmental Health and Safety inspections, including ladders, exit lights, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, emergency equipment, hand tools, welding and brazing areas, and machine guarding.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and EHS concerns to the EHS Manager.
  • Assist with contractor safety oversight and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on deionized (DI) and reverse osmosis (RO) water systems.
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist the Maintenance Department with facility improvement projects.
  • Serve as backup support for janitorial duties as needed.
  • Support EHS training activities as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, and environmental records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.

Preferred Education and Qualifications:

  • Experience operating forklifts or other powered material handling equipment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and computerized preventive maintenance software.
  • Basic understanding of algebra, scientific units of measure, measurement conversions, and calibration techniques.
  • Basic analytical, mechanical, and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry and environmental regulations.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, maintenance, or Environmental Health and Safety environment.
  • Experience with hazardous waste management, environmental compliance, or preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ability to obtain the following certifications:
    • DOT Hazardous Materials Certification
    • Hazardous Waste Certification
    • Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) Certification

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around moving machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
