Job summary

SGS is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician I for its Dayton, NJ laboratory to join the PFAS team. You will prepare samples with accuracy and follow SGS SOPs, working independently and in teams to meet daily targets and ensure hold/run times are met.

This role requires a high school diploma, 0–2 years in analytical chemistry, and basic math/reasoning/computer skills. Physical duties include lifting up to 25 lbs; associates degree preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in analytical chemistry laboratories.
  • Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 lbs frequently.
  • Associate degree in chemistry or related field preferred.
  • Basic math, reasoning, and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for analysis following SGS SOPs.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate prep instruments/equipment.
  • Assist with validation and MDL studies.
  • Maintain laboratory notebook and document technical information.
  • Follow internal standards, policies and safety procedures.
  • Support daily lab operations as needed.

Job Description

Our Dayton, NJ laboratory is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician I to join their PFAS team! The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions
  • After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
  • May assist with validation and MDL studies.
  • Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
  • Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (Required)
  • 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one’s hands (Required)
  • Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years of years’ relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic (Required)
  • Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Basic (Required)
  • Computer Skills: Basic (Required)
  • Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)
Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $20/hourlu. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
