Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc. is seeking a laboratory technician to provide technical and laboratory support for injury biomechanics research.

Under supervision, you will assist with biological specimen preparation, animal research activities, and data collection in a controlled laboratory setting. Responsibilities include handling samples, maintaining equipment, and organizing data while adhering to approved protocols and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of biology, chemistry, neuroscience, psychology, or a related life science discipline.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work with spreadsheets, databases, and electronic research records.
• Ability to operate and maintain basic laboratory and research equipment following training.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Summary

• Assist with the collection, labeling, organization, and processing of research samples and experimental materials.
• Enter and organize experimental data using laboratory databases, spreadsheets, or other research record systems.

• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

Physical Requirements

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Sensory Acuity

• Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required.
• May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
