Job summary

Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) seeks a GSS Laboratory Technician to support Sexual Health and Wellness Clinics by collecting and processing clinical samples, performing tests, and ensuring quality control.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, documenting results, and collaborating with clinicians to ensure accurate patient testing and safe handling of specimens in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Associate of science in laboratory technology or related field, or equivalent education.
• High school diploma with microscopy course/certification or microscopy experience.
• Phlebotomy certification or 6+ months of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect, receive, label, and process patient samples.
• Perform point-of-care and moderate complexity laboratory tests per procedures.
• Maintain quality assurance and safety data sheets; document results accurately.
• Prepare samples for shipment to external testing facilities.
• Coordinate with clinical team to ensure smooth patient experience.
