Job summary

Florida Polytechnic University is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support instruction and research laboratories, ensuring safe operation of assigned spaces and clear communication with faculty. The role requires organization, writing and verbal skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

The technician will oversee lab setup, maintain equipment, manage inventory, and assist with safety training and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or closely related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • In lieu of a degree, relevant education/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee lab setup and breakdown, coordinate with faculty regarding needs and improvements.
  • Maintains laboratory facilities, materials, and equipment in safe, clean condition; manage lab coats inventory.
  • Order supplies, monitor inventory, and verify receipts; ensure equipment operation and preventive maintenance.
  • Assist Safety Office with lab orientation and safety training for students and staff.
  • Maintain records/logs of safety inspections and disposal of waste per regulations.
