Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Lab Technician in Sunnyvale, CA to support day-to-day lab operations, safety, and equipment readiness. You will keep labs clean, organized, stocked, and compliant with safety standards while assisting with installations, reconfigurations, and inventory control.

The role requires hands-on support for PPE, supplies, and space planning, with emphasis on collaboration with lab users, facilities, and vendors. Contract through 2026 with extension potential.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in laboratory operations, facilities support, inventory management, technical support, or a related environment.
  • Experience handling tools, equipment, inventory, and laboratory supplies.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices and facility operations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and overall functionality on a daily basis.
  • Organize tools, hardware, consumables, cables, project materials, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Reset and reconfigure lab spaces according to established standards and project requirements.
  • Eliminate clutter, optimize workspace utilization, and improve overall lab efficiency.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure laboratories meet operational and aesthetic standards.
  • Perform weekly inventory audits of tools, hardware, consumables, and laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels.
  • Develop procurement and restocking recommendations based on inventory usage and project requirements.
  • Manage and distribute PPE, cleaning supplies, chemistry supplies, and other laboratory consumables.
  • Ensure storage locations, cabinets, drawers, and tool stations are properly labeled and maintained.
  • Promote and maintain a safe laboratory environment by identifying and addressing safety concerns.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections to ensure compliance with established laboratory standards.
  • Remove or mitigate hazards such as tripping risks, improper cable management, blocked egress paths, and unauthorized electrical configurations.
  • Report safety concerns and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Assist with laboratory reconfigurations, space planning, and equipment relocations.
  • Take measurements and support equipment test-fit activities.
  • Assist with furniture assembly, equipment moves, installations, and decommissioning activities.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs on laboratory equipment and infrastructure.
  • Support troubleshooting of facility-related issues, including minor plumbing and air system concerns.
  • Support shipping, receiving, palletizing, uncrating, and material handling activities.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to support laboratory operations.
  • Provide escort services for third‑party vendors working within laboratory spaces.
  • Assist with off‑site storage coordination, rigging requests, equipment deliveries, and installation activities.
  • Support laboratory tours and site visits as needed.
  • Collaborate with laboratory users to understand operational needs and support upcoming projects.
  • Participate in regular walkthroughs with Lab Managers and Coordinators to identify improvement opportunities and action items.
  • Provide recommendations for tools, hardware, consumables, and workspace improvements based on user needs and operational requirements.
  • Support special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned by laboratory leadership.

Job Summary

The Lab Technician is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, organization, safety, and functionality of laboratory environments. This role ensures laboratories remain clean, organized, properly stocked, and compliant with safety standards while providing hands‑on support for equipment installations, space reconfigurations, inventory management, vendor coordination, and general lab operations. Key Responsibilities
