Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Quality Control Chemist to perform wet chemistry tests for stability testing and quality assurance in a high-volume lab environment in Dallas, TX. The role focuses on accurate data collection, documentation, and timely reporting of out-of-spec results to maintain product quality.

You will calibrate equipment, inspect containers, perform analyses on bulk products and raw materials, and ensure adherence to SOPs and safety policies while supporting team members as needed.

Qualifications

  • Develop working knowledge of SOPs, cGMPs, GLPs, ISO, 21CFR111, 210, 211 and 117.
  • Familiarity with the use and function of common laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good visual/observation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate laboratory equipment as needed.
  • Visually inspect the integrity of container/closure systems.
  • Inspect lot codes/batch codes for correctness.
  • Perform organoleptic and chemical analysis on bulk products, finished goods, raw materials and stability samples.
  • Proficient with wet chemistry techniques.
  • Assess data quickly to identify and report OOS and OOT data.
  • Transcription of raw data to laboratory notebook and reports of analysis.
  • Collect and document retain samples.
  • Maintain a log of stability batches.
  • Coordinate with QC Document Coordinator to ship samples to outsource laboratory.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety standards, by adhering to all company safety policies and wearing appropriate and required PPE.
  • Update logbooks.

Quality Control Chemist

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Perform wet chemistry tests in a high-volume working environment for stability testing and quality assurance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

  • Perform organoleptic and chemical analysis on bulk products, finished goods, raw materials and stability samples.
  • Proficient with wet chemistry techniques.
  • Assess data quickly to identify and report OOS and OOT data.

  • Request stability sample.
  • Maintain a log of stability batches.
  • Coordinate with QC Document Coordinator to ship samples to outsource laboratory.
  • Create stability records as needed.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety standards, by adhering to all company safety policies and wearing appropriate and required PPE.
  • Cover other lab personnel when needed.
  • Update logbooks.
  • Conduct monthly inventory of all reagents and chemicals used in QC lab.
  • Monitor and maintain chart recorders.
  • Comply with Company SOPs.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science. Previous work experience in food, drug, dietary supplement and/or cosmetic manufacturing is a plus. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
