Job summary

Inova Central Lab is seeking a Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC at Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax, VA. The role is full-time, day shift, 7:30am-4:00pm with occasional rotating Saturday 7:00am-5:00pm.

You will prepare specimens, assist with phlebotomy tasks, and ensure quality and compliance across lab processes. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma with phlebotomy training and BLS certification within 3 months of hire; prior patient service center experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Phlebotomy training; certificate from Phlebotomy program or allied health program.
• Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately manages specimen preparation, storage, and transport according to Lab protocols.
• Communicates effectively with Inova staff and care facility personnel to optimize performance.
• Performs patient registration, billing, and test order procedures to ensure correct testing and compliance.
• Collects specimens properly and labels them according to policy.
• Provides excellent patient and customer service using AIDET principles and ensures quality of information provided.
• Other duties as assigned.
