Job summary

Inova Central Lab is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC to join the team at Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax, VA. The position is full-time, day shift, Monday–Friday 7:30am–4:00pm with occasional rotating Saturday shifts 7:00am–5:00pm.

The role emphasizes precise specimen handling, effective communication with staff and patients, and adherence to lab protocols to ensure accurate testing and reporting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent and completion of Phlebotomy training or allied health program.
• Experience: 1 year in a Patient Service Center or 6 months in an Inova Patient Service Center; may be met via Inova Phlebotomy School.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and store/pack specimens for transport according to lab protocols.
• Communicate effectively with Inova staff and external partners to support performance.
• Perform patient registration, billing, and test ordering accurately to ensure proper testing and billing.
