SPL in Reading, PA, is hiring a Laboratory Technician for the Environmental Laboratory team. The role focuses on sample prep, data entry in LIMS, and QC activities to ensure accurate, high‑quality results.

The position is 2nd shift (2 PM–10:30 PM EST) with Sunday rotation, offering full‑time onsite work and a path for professional growth within a nationwide organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's in Chemistry or related field preferred.
• Hands-on lab experience gained through work, internships, or coursework.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-throughput environments is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform sample preparation of environmental samples following established methods.
• Enter, review, and maintain sample data in LIMS with accuracy.
• Conduct routine QC activities for sample preparation processes.
• Follow SOPs, QA/QC standards, safety protocols, and chain-of-custody procedures.
• Support lab workflow, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with teammates to meet throughput and turnaround targets.
• Assist with housekeeping, glassware cleaning, and inventory management.

We’re searching for a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our environmental laboratory team in Reading, PA.

In this role, you’ll be actively engaged in daily laboratory operations, supporting critical testing through sample preparation and accurate documentation within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). You’ll work hands-on with laboratory instrumentation, contribute to quality and compliance initiatives, and help maintain a safe, efficient, and well-organized laboratory environment. This position offers the opportunity to strengthen technical expertise, collaborate with an experienced team, and directly contribute to reliable, high-quality results that support essential laboratory operations.

Please note: This position follows a 2nd shift schedule Monday - Friday from 2 PM - 10:30 PM EST with a monthly Sunday rotation.

What You’ll Do

• Perform sample preparation of environmental samples following established laboratory methods and procedures

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline preferred; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• Previous hands-on lab experience gained through employment, internships, research projects, or academic coursework
• Previous professional experience working in fast-paced, high-throughput environmentsstrongly preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer applications

Work Schedule & Travel

• Full-time, onsite position
• 2nd shift schedule; Monday - Friday from 2 PM to 10:30 PM EST
• Ability to temporarily work 1st shift schedule (8 AM– 4:30 PM EST) for first 90 day training period
• Flexibility to work beyond standard hours, including monthly Sunday rotation and holiday rotation
