A leading automotive company is seeking a Lab Technician to join their In-House design team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers to support testing and data collection for the latest vehicle technology. Responsibilities include troubleshooting electronic modules, managing lab operations, and writing technical reports. This role requires proficiency with lab equipment and excellent organizational skills.
As a Lab Technician on the In-House design team, you will be a valuable GM team member working on the latest technology used in GM’s next generation of vehicles. You will work closely with a team of electrical and mechanical engineers who are designing the new automotive modules and supporting their needs for collecting data, troubleshooting issues, running tests, and influencing the design with your observations and insights.
This Lab Technician position will involve the following technical skills:
Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and cross-probe to the associated part of the layout.
Proficiency using the following lab test equipment
Oscilloscope with capture feature
Programmable power supply
Data logger Voltage, Impedance, Thermocouple, other
Handheld multimeter
Experience operating a Vector network analyzer
Experience operating Spectrum analyzer
Experience with signal generator for audio and RF
Ability to troubleshoot electronic modules, test input/output interface, voltage supplies, ethernet, CAN, LIN, SPI, UART interfaces.
Expertise in high pitched soldering leaded and lead-less (BGA, QFN, LGA)
Expertise in de-soldering IC’s, SIPs, BGA, QFN
Experience using the following lab equipment
Programmable Thermal chamber
Multi-axis vibration table
Programmable dual chamber Thermal Shock
Mechanical resonance fixturing and testing
Ability to run Near-field RF triage testing for Radiated Emissions
Ability to run BCI testing for Conducted Emissions/Immunity
Experience in programming test equipment for automated testing and configuration
Developing test setups, custom connector/wiring harnesses, investigating mechanical/electrical operational difficulties on products and/or components. Recommending corrective action.
This Lab Technician position will involve the following organizational skills:
Write a technical report
Organize and prioritize daily work assignments
Communicate planned work and resolve conflict in schedules, resources, materials
Clearly explain results and concerns regarding daily work tasks
Manage multiple work flows and involve engineers in decisions regarding the work products they are requesting
Manage lab resources and materials to keep the lab operating at high efficiency
Maintain lab equipment and calibration schedules
