The distillate Formulation Specialist is responsible for the accurate weighing, formulation, mixing, documentation, and inventory control of cannabis distillate and formulation ingredients used in MFused products. This position owns the formulation process from raw material issuance through completion of the formulated batch, including Batch Production Records (BPRs), material reconciliation, and accurate inventory tracking.
This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working with weights, measurements, and formulation instructions, and the ability to consistently follow established procedures in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Distillate Formulation: Accurately weigh, measure, mix, and formulate cannabis distillate, terpenes, and other approved ingredients according to established formulas and production specifications.
- Distillate Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory of all cannabis distillate used in production, including receiving, issuance, usage, returns, reconciliation, and remaining material.
- Batch Production Records: Own and complete Batch Production Records (BPRs) for all formulation activities, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and performed in real time.
- Material Reconciliation: Reconcile all cannabis and formulation materials following each batch and investigate or elevate any discrepancies.
- Lot & Batch Traceability: Maintain accurate tracking of lot numbers, batch numbers, weights, ingredients, and material movement to ensure complete product traceability.
- Formulation Accuracy: Follow approved recipes, formulations, and work instructions exactly and verify calculations and material weights prior to mixing.
- Production Coordination: Work closely with Filling Specialists and production leadership to ensure formulated material is prepared accurately and available according to the production schedule.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate scales, heating equipment, mixers, vessels, dispensing equipment, and other formulation tools.
- Equipment Cleaning & Sanitation: Clean and maintain formulation equipment, utensils, containers, and work areas according to established sanitation procedures.
- Compliance: Follow all applicable MFused SOPs, GMP requirements, cannabis regulations, safety procedures, and inventory‑control requirements.
- Quality: Identify and immediately report formulation errors, inventory discrepancies, equipment issues, or other conditions that could affect product quality or compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Assist with improving formulation processes, documentation, material handling, and production efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in cannabis manufacturing or another regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a laboratory, commercial kitchen, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetic, chemical, or similar controlled production environment preferred.
- Experience accurately weighing, measuring, mixing, batching, or formulating ingredients or raw materials.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow written formulas, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Ability to consistency perform basic production math, including weights, percentages, ratios, and material reconciliation.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Experience completing batch records, production records, inventory records, or similar controlled documentation preferred.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory and recognize discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with production, quality, and operations teams.
- Familiarity with cannabis inventory or manufacturing software is a plus.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work according to the production schedule.
WORK LOCATION, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND ENVIRONMENT
Physical Demands
- Primarily manufacturing work, including prolonged periods of computer use and frequent use of standard office equipment.
- Ability to work while standing, sitting, reaching, walking, bending, and moving through office, inventory, warehouse, or production areas.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring accuracy and concentration.

Work Environment
- The position is based in a licensed cannabis production, manufacturing, and inventory environment.
- Work has exposure to cannabis or cannabis‑derived products, ingredients, strong odors, airborne plant or product particles, production noise, cleaning or sanitation materials, varying temperatures, and moving equipment.
- Required personal protective equipment and all security, sanitation, access, and safety procedures must be followed in designated areas.
- Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to meet business deadlines.
