Job summary

Enpro Inc. is seeking a Lab Technician to perform analytical and physical testing in a production environment at the Santa Clara site. The role emphasizes timely testing, data review, and documentation to meet customer and auditing requirements.

The technician will manage solution parameters, maintain inventory, and support lab operations while following safety protocols; strong math, communication, and Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • G.E.D / High School Diploma or higher education required; some college preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Lab Chemistry and practical lab experience.
  • Prefer at least 5 years of related work experience.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong communication and basic math skills; proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily and monthly solution testing and document results.
  • Monitor and adjust solution concentrations to stay within specs.
  • Prepare testing certifications and review test results for pass/fail criteria.
  • Maintain lab inventory and purchase supplies as needed.
  • Enter data and generate reports; support audits and safety procedures.

Job Summary & Job Duties

The laboratory technician shall perform laboratory functions to include analytical and physical testing to ensure that all processes carried out at CSL are within the parameters set by our customer’s and third-party auditing entities. The laboratory technician will perform these tests on a regular basis to meet the customer’s testing deadlines. The laboratory functions include tracking tests to ensure they meet deadlines, creating testing certifications, reviewing test results for pass/fail criteria, reviewing data for trends and non-conformances, reviewing customer requirements to set up new testing methodologies, and participating in audits performed within the company on a regular basis

  • Perform and document daily solution testing.
  • Perform and document monthly periodic testing.
  • Ensure that all the necessary test specimens are available and in compliance to specifications.
  • Monitor critical solution parameters.
  • Use PC Documents to analyze and continually improve solution parameters.
  • Make the necessary additions to maintain proper solution levels and concentrations.
  • Complete Lab chemical inventory to ensure availability of required materials.
  • Purchase all lab supply and lab chemicals as needed and buy additional chemicals/materials necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Perform clerical duties to file lab orders, test certs, chemical certificates of analysis, metal specimen certificate of analysis, purchase orders, etc.
  • Determine amount of chemicals to be added to chemical process tanks to ensure that chemical concentrations stay within required ranges.
  • Tag out process tanks when needed due to out of range concentrations, temperatures, etc.
  • Communicate with shop personnel to inform shop employees of issues with tanks, test specimens, and/or operation of baths.
  • Make chemical additions to process tanks when required.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and know how to use all personal protective equipment, first aid kits, eye wash stations, and other safety devices.
  • Monitor shelf life of materials used for both laboratory testing and bulk chemical additions to process tanks.

Minimum Qualifications
  • G.E.D / High School Diploma, Some college Experience Preferred
  • Must have working knowledge of Lab Chemistry, Practical Experience in lab environment. Previous manufacturing experience a Plus.
  • Prefer at least 5 years of related work experience
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Must have critical thinking skills; be able to perform basic mathematics.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Able to write clearly to prepare reports / test results.
  • Have good communication skills be goal oriented to complete tasks given on a regular basis.
  • Have good time management skills to handle multiple job functions for both calibration and laboratory tasks.
  • Be able to pick up on instructions quickly.
  • Be able to work alone with little to no supervision
  • Must have good ethical skills to be able to handle critical test data alone and be able to ensure test data is accurate and truthful.
  • Must be able to determine solutions to problems with little supervision that arise.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required to complete required tasks.
  • Willing and able to work in a multi-skilled team environment
Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Chemistry or equivalent required.
