Responsibilities

• Must be aware of and comply with the required services and data, according to the Health Care Plan and the Quality Assurance Plan of Central Ozarks Medical Center.
• Must provide courteous service to all patients.
• Will collect and prepare blood samples for inspection.
• Will assist in maintaining the laboratory and radiology areas in proper condition.
• The Laboratory Assistant will assist in maintaining an inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and prepare purchase requisitions for submission to the Practice Manager for needed supplies.
• Will assist in recording information, collecting specimens, labeling specimens for identification.

Qualifications

• Must be comfortable using computer hardware and software as well as computerized equipment.
• Must be motivated to serve the needs of patients and perform services to benefit people and Central Ozarks Medical Center.
• Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted medical standards.
• Must possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand and communicate regarding medical records and laboratory procedures.
• Must be CPR/BLS certified or become certified during probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment with COMC.

Education and Experience

GED or High School diploma. Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate lab testing. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.

Mathematical Skills

Knowledge of fundamental math, adding machine, calculator, and Microsoft Office.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
