Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking a lab-focused role in California to support microbiology work, sample preparation, and quality assurance. The position emphasizes aseptic techniques, safe handling of chemicals, and accurate data entry in SAP.

Candidates should be able to lift heavy loads, read English, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment while communicating clearly with team members and supervisors. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Must be able to work aseptically with microbiological samples.
• Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and handle equipment safely.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiology plating and aseptic sampling as required.
• Read and interpret microbiological plating samples accurately.
• Operate lab equipment (FT 120 Foss, CEM oven, salt analyzer) and learn new procedures.
• Ensure food safety and quality in daily lab activities.
• Take sterile cheese samples and prepare for analysis.
• Complete SAP functions in the system and maintain accuracy.
• Communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors.
• Work overtime as needed and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications and/or duties:

• Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to work aseptically with microbiological samples.
• Must be able to take sterile cheese samples and plate for microbiology.
• Take sterile samples of anything required and plate for microbiology, aseptically swab areas in plant and plate for microbiology.
• Must be able to read and interpret microbiological plating samples.
• Must be able to work accurately in a fast paced environment.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors.
• Must be able to accurately perform simple mathematical formulas.
• Must be able to learn to use all equipment in the Lab proficiently.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Must be able to work safely with chemicals.
• Must be able to operate the FT 120 Foss.
• Must be able to operate the CEM oven.
• Must be able to operate the salt analyzer.
• Must be able to learn new procedures as they arise.
• Responsible for food safety and quality.
• Perform SAP functions in the system.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Hourly Rate: 26.55
