Job summary

Power Brands in Los Angeles is seeking a Lab Technician to support product development and laboratory operations within the R&D team.

You will prepare samples, document results, weigh ingredients, perform pH and other tests, calibrate equipment, and help with batch formulations.

Bachelor's in related field preferred; 1 year lab experience in food/bev is ideal; strong attention to detail and communication required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
• At least 1 year of prior laboratory experience, preferably in food/beverage manufacturing.
• Understanding of cGMPs and GLPs.
• Familiarity with common laboratory equipment such as scales, pH meters, and refractometers.
• Familiarity with AI tools and their practical application in R&D, lab, documentation, or data management workflows.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy with ability to learn digital documentation, inventory, and other software systems.

Responsibilities

Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for providing product development and laboratory support to our Research and Development Department. The Lab Technician will work closely with R&D Scientists to prepare product samples, maintain an organized and efficient laboratory, support project timelines, and ensure accurate documentation throughout the product development process.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participate in R&D projects, including the development of new product formulations and product preparation
• Prepare small to medium scale formulation batches of various beverage and food products
• Work closely with R&D Scientists to batch samples, evaluate products, and document results
• Accurately weigh and measure ingredients and raw materials according to formulation instructions
• Perform routine product testing, including pH, Brix, density, and other applicable measurements
• Perform instrument calibration, verification, and routine equipment checks
• Maintain accurate records for formulas, specifications, ingredient information, batch results, and sensory evaluations
• Assist with preparing and shipping product samples to clients, vendors, and other third parties
• Monitor laboratory inventory and assist with receiving, organizing, labeling, storing, and restocking ingredients and supplies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked laboratory, including flavor shelves, equipment, workstations, and storage areas
• Input ingredient and project data into digital systems and maintain organized electronic documentation
• Assist with general laboratory operations and other R&D-related tasks as needed

What to Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred
• At least one year of prior workplace laboratory experience. Food and beverage industry experience is strongly preferred
• Fundamental understanding of laboratory equipment and safe laboratory practices
• Understanding of cGMPs and GLPs
• Familiarity with common laboratory equipment such as scales, pH meters, and refractometers
• Familiarity with AI tools and their practical application in R&D, laboratory, documentation, or data management workflows
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literate with the ability to learn and use digital documentation, inventory, and other software systems
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Must be dependable, proactive, and willing to assist the R&D team as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $25.00 per hour
