Job summary

Clean Earth is seeking a Lab QC Technician to perform wet chemistry and PCB analyses on QC samples, and to ensure compliance with WAP. You will handle QC/QA documentation, log results, and communicate findings to management.

Position requires 1+ year in a lab, 2+ years as a Lab QC Technician, and 40-hour HAZWOPER training. Training and PPE provided; standard 8–5 or 8–6 schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Chemistry or Environmental Sciences preferred.
  • 1+ year laboratory experience.
  • 2+ years as Lab QC Technician.
  • 40‑hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Experience with basic lab techniques and calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wet chemistry tests on QC samples.
  • Perform PCB analysis on QC samples.
  • Maintain compliance with Waste Analysis Plan (WAP).
  • Submit QC/QA documents to Operations.
  • File QC/QA documents electronically.
  • Review QC/QA results against Waste profile sheets.

This position is responsible for performing lab tests on incoming and outgoing shipments and assists the Supervisor with treatability studies. It includes monitoring safety regulations and the use of equipment, initiating work orders for repairs of equipment, maintaining production logs and QC paperwork, and logging test results in CORE waste management software.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Perform wet chemistry tests on inbound and outbound load QC samples.
  • Perform PCB analysis on QC samples.
  • Maintain compliance with the Waste Analysis Plan (WAP).
  • Complete and submit QC/QA documents to Operations.
  • File QC/QA documents electronically.
  • Review QC/QA test results against the Waste profile sheet to determine if results match the profile.
  • Process (consolidate) waste samples into larger containers.
  • Package samples to ship off-site for testing.
  • Communicate off-specification materials to managers.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and area inspections.
  • Communicate with the Lab QC Supervisor to accomplish daily goals.
  • Promptly report any incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to management.
  • Adhere to and abide by Clean Earth safety and security policies and procedures, including Cardinal Rules and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities may vary based on site level and/or location.

Work Environment

Must be able to regularly access and use general office equipment including phones, computers, and copiers. Must be able to work in a busy, often distracting work environment that is generally climate controlled. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Must be willing to wear company‑issued personal protection equipment (PPE) as needed, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel‑toed boots, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator. Ability to work overtime hours as needed based on business requirements.

Education, Experience, and Skills
Education
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or an Environmental Sciences field (preferred).
Experience
  • 1+ years of prior experience working in a laboratory.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Lab QC Technician.
  • 40‑hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Experience with basic lab techniques and calculations.
Skills
  • Proficiency with Windows‑based programs.
  • Knowledge of gas chromatography and/or ICP‑OES.
  • Knowledge of chemical compatibilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written.

Temp position starting out with possibility to hire full time. Monday–Friday with times between 8 am to 5 pm or 8 am to 6 pm, depending on completion of work.

Onsite HAZWOPER training.
