Job summary

AgCertain Industries in Boone, IA is seeking a Lab Technician I to execute Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs daily, ensuring production quantity and quality meet targets. You will maintain analytical throughput to align with production pace and support company policies and objectives.

You will operate safely, perform SOP-based testing, document results, prepare CoAs for approvals, and collaborate with production teams to apply QA/QC procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a relevant scientific/technical field is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in academic, chemical, and/or commercial lab environments is desirable.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work safely in a lab setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate safely in all AgCertain environments and adhere to safety protocols.
• Demonstrate understanding of laboratory QA/QC practices.
• Collect samples and perform analytical tests per SOPs.
• Prepare CoAs for product release and ensure timely documentation.
• Record data accurately in paper and electronic forms.
• Communicate with production to implement QA/QC policies.
• Handle and store chemicals per safety instructions.
• Coordinate with third-party labs for outside testing services.
• Participate in trainings and perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Details: Job Location: Boone, IA 50036, Position Type: Full Time, The Lab Technician I is responsible for executing the Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs for AgCertain on a daily basis to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, and maintaining analytical throughput to match the production rate, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Operate safely and appropriately in all AgCertain situations and environments
• Ability to demonstrate a basic and continually increasing understanding of the laboratory environment and quality control practices
• Participate in all competency testing programs including interdepartmental and customer-based equivalency testing
• Collect samples from the production area and perform all relevant analytical tests according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Perform accurate testing of samples to create final product Certificate of Analyses (CoAs) for approval by others as defined by SOPs in a timely manner
• Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
• Communicate directly with the production team to ensure effective participation by the process operators on the implementation of QA/QC policies and procedures
• Handle, organize, and store all chemical substances, fluids, and gases according to safety instructions
• Communicate with third-party labs to schedule outside testing services
• Participate in all company trainings
• Perform long-term additional duties as assigned and other duties as required

Qualifications

• An Associate's Degree in a relevant scientific or technical field is required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Previous experience in academic, chemical, and/or commercial lab experience preferred
• Physical abilities to include the ability to lift 50 lbs (23 Kg), able to climb several flights of stairs and not affected by heights
• Experience with automated laboratory instruments preferred
