Job summary

Actalent in Moorpark, CA is seeking a Laboratory Technician Environmental Monitoring for a contract-to-hire, 2nd shift role at a cosmetics manufacturing site. You will perform routine environmental monitoring sampling, water sampling, and maintain documentation while following GMP/GLP and aseptic techniques.

You will collect PW/RO samples, manage sample shipments, monitor temperature/humidity, support audits, and help investigations while safely handling materials up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 13 years of experience in environmental monitoring, quality control, or laboratory operations within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience with water sampling and aseptic technique, including handling PW/RO or similar water systems.
• Working knowledge of GMP requirements, preferably gained in cosmetics, OTC, pharmaceutical, or personal care manufacturing.
• Strong attention to detail and a proven ability to maintain documentation accuracy and follow good documentation practices.
• Ability to follow SOPs consistently and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Comfort with lifting and carrying heavy loads of sampled waters and materials up to approximately 50 pounds on a regular basis.

• Maintain and verify temperature and humidity probes, including performing routine checks, documenting results, and promptly notifying appropriate personnel of any deviations.
• Trend and review environmental monitoring and water system data, identify outofspecification or outoftrend results, and elevate issues according to procedures.
• Ensure accurate, complete, and contemporaneous documentation in logbooks, forms, and electronic systems, following good documentation practices at all times.
• Support investigations related to environmental monitoring or water system excursions and assist with root cause analysis and documentation.
• Maintain environmental monitoring supplies, media, and sampling materials, ensuring proper storage conditions and adequate inventory levels.
• Adhere to GMP, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), OSHA, and company safety requirements at all times while working in laboratory and manufacturing areas.
• Support internal and external audits and inspections by retrieving and organizing environmental monitoring and water system documentation.
• Perform water system testing and sample plating using aseptic technique as part of routine monitoring activities.

The Laboratory Technician Environmental Monitoring supports the environmental monitoring program at a cosmetics and overthecounter (OTC) manufacturing facility. This role focuses on product and water sampling, environmental surface and air monitoring, and facility condition monitoring, while microbiological testing is performed by an external contract laboratory. The technician applies strong aseptic technique, follows Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements, and ensures accurate documentation to maintain product quality and regulatory compliance.

This role is based in a cosmetics manufacturing environment that operates under GMP, GLP, and OSHA guidelines. The position is on 2nd shift, with work starting in the early morning hours around 6:00 or 6:30 a.m. The Laboratory Technician works in both production and laboratory areas, handling environmental and water samples, monitoring temperature and humidity conditions, and interacting with water systems and basic chemistry measurements such as pH and viscosity. The environment involves routine movement throughout manufacturing, filling, and support areas, as well as regular lifting and carrying of sampled waters and materials up to approximately 50 pounds. Pay And Benefits: The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
