Job summary

Malteurop Job Board is seeking a Lab Technician to perform malt testing and quality assurance ensuring products meet customer requirements. The role involves lab work, equipment maintenance, and reporting results with attention to detail.

The successful candidate will support raw material inspections, maintain lab safety, and assist sales with analytical data and samples. Education includes high school or better, with an associate degree in a related field preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or better is required; an Associate degree in Food Science or Chemistry is a plus.
• Strong ability to work in teams and maintain attention to detail.
• Experience with laboratory practices and safety protocols is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests to ensure malt products meet customer requirements.
• Record observations and report results accurately.
• Maintain and clean lab equipment and instrumentation.
• Assist with receipt and inspection of raw materials and inventory.
• Support lab operations and develop lab staff as needed.
• Provide technical data to sales with sample preparation and analysis.

Job description

The Lab Technician, under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, performs work involving the testing of the product to ensure it meets customer requirements. The main responsibility includes conducting quality assurance tests to ensure malt meets the customer’s standards and requirements.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitieS:

• Performs laboratory research/tasks.
• Records observations, measurements, and reports results.
• Responsible for maintenance and cleaning of laboratory and associated instrumentation and equipment.
• Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, ordering and stocking.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Assess lab test result validity prior to reporting to manufacturing or customers.
• Verify and issue customer reports.
• Maintain and improve lab operations by assisting in the development of lab employees and coordinating the maintenance and purchase of lab equipment.
• Compare lab test results with expected outcomes to evaluate test result validity prior to reporting.
• Works every other weekend or as needed.
• Provide technical support to the sales function by preparing special samples and analytical information.

Job Requirements:

• Education: High Diploma required; Associate degree in Food Science or Chemistry is a plus.

The employee must wear safety glasses and appropriate heat, chemical or cut resistant gloves in the lab, depending on duties assigned. Safety shoes, safety glasses and a hard hat and a full face respirator are required if working in manufacturing areas.
