Job summary

Mercy Health in Cincinnati is seeking a Lab Tech Assistant for West Hospital to perform pre-analytical and analytical lab duties, prepare specimens, register orders, and perform phlebotomy to ensure proper processing. The role includes inventory management and supporting technologists in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED (Associates in Biology or Chemistry preferred) and laboratory experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED (required)
• Associates, Biology or Chemistry (preferred)
• Laboratory experience preferred, but not required
• Keyboarding or data experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner
• Collect blood specimens from patients, follow established venipuncture procedures, and transport specimens to the testing laboratory to ensure specimen integrity
• Provides support to technologists by assisting with the loading and maintaining of instruments, making up of reagents, thawing, pooling, importing, and issuing of blood products
• Recognizes instrument and equipment malfunctions and keeps appropriate person(s) informed of problems, issues, and resolutions as needed
• Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, answer phones when needed
• Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
• Other duties as assigned
