Job summary

Pioneer Metal Finishing is hiring for a Chemical Process Technician to monitor and maintain chemistry in an active process environment. You will support wastewater treatment, ensure safety, and help preserve final product quality on the 6 pm–2 am shift.

The role involves handling chemicals, data recording, and coordinating with production for maintenance scheduling. High school diploma required; chemistry credits or related experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Good math skills are required.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain process tank chemistry, including pH, temperature and TDS.
  • Perform regular tank decants and chemical additions to ensure consistent quality.
  • Record data for process tanks.
  • Change filters and replenish chemicals to sustain bath conditions.
  • Calibrate wastewater monitoring equipment and assist in water treatment.
  • Support spill response and environmental compliance.
  • Maintain organized chemical storage and inventory system.
  • Coordinate with production to prioritize tank maintenance per schedule.
  • Assist with quality management and safety-related tasks.

Education

High School diploma

Strong math aptitude

Overview

Job Summary


Primary responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining process chemistry, supporting wastewater treatment systems, and ensuring final product quality. This role operates within an active chemical process environment, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and comfort working with chemical reactions, equipment, and materials on a routine basis.



Schedule


Monday-Friday, 6 pm-2 am



Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities



Chemical Process Maintenance:


  • Assist in maintaining process tank chemistry, such as concentrations, pH, temperature, and TDS.

  • Perform regular tank decants and chemical additions to ensure consistent process quality.

  • Record data for process tanks.

  • Change filters and conduct chemical replenishments to sustain optimal bath conditions.



Water Treatment & Environmental Support:


  • Calibration and verification of wastewater monitoring equipment.

  • Assist in water treatment processes, adhering to environmental and facility guidelines through recordkeeping.

  • Support spill response and clean-up efforts as required.



Facility & Inventory Support:


  • Maintain an organized and clean chemical storage warehouse and chemical laboratory, including inventory tracking.

  • Clean and prepare returnable chemical drums for reuse.

  • Coordinate with production personnel to prioritize tank maintenance according to the production schedule.

  • Any other job duties as assigned (may include, for example, assisting with quality management system, performing safety walks and associated corrective actions, involvement in quality investigations, etc.).



Physical/Environmental/Chemical Hazards:


  • Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

  • Must be able to maneuver a full drum or barrel of chemical that varies in weight using prober barrel-moving equipment. (est. 500-700lbs)

  • Must successfully complete respiratory fit testing.

Education/Qualifications:


  • High School diploma required

  • College-level chemistry credits or relevant laboratory or chemical industry experience preferred.
