Job summary

Eck Industries, Inc. in Manitowoc, WI is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician for the 2nd shift to support daily lab operations, verify material properties, and ensure aluminum castings meet quality standards.

You will follow work instructions, perform tests with spectrometer, tensile tester and Brinell hardness tester, maintain a clean 6S workspace, and help prepare certifications and reports.

Qualifications

• At least one year of manufacturing experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures and quality requirements.
• Willingness to learn and safely operate laboratory testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Follow work instructions and specifications to perform laboratory tests and record results.
• Prepare and test samples using the spectrometer, including routine cleaning, maintenance, calibration, and alloy analysis.
• Operate the tensile tester: prepare and measure specimens, set up equipment, run tests, and share reports as needed.
• Use the Brinell hardness tester to measure, read, and convert hardness results.
• Verify heat treat batches and mechanical properties; approve loads and complete required shop documentation when authorized.
• Prepare packing slips and customer-required certifications as needed.
• Inspect incoming ingots, including identification, marking, and proper storage.
• Complete equipment inspections, maintain a 6S work area, and handle waste and scrap properly.
• Operate a forklift or other equipment as needed and assist with other assigned duties.
