Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Waco, TX is seeking a Lab Tech 2 to support specimen processing and phlebotomy in the day shift. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced clinical lab.

You will perform routine lab tasks, assist Medical Technologists, and help ensure timely reporting of results. Prior phlebotomy experience is preferred; strong communication and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of phlebotomy, specimen processing and point of care testing.
• HS Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine laboratory procedures with a limited range of errors.
• Sorts, labels and records patient specimens for analysis.
• Sets up specimens, materials and equipment for testing by Medical Technologist.
• Operates centrifuge, timers, cell washer and other lab equipment.
• Maintains inventory of supplies.
• Communicates effectively with lab staff and external customers.

Job Summary

The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions. May perform phlebotomy.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Conducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
• Sorts, labels and records patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.
• Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
