Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Irving, TX is seeking a Part-Time Lab Tech 2 for the Core Lab. You will receive and process specimens, perform clerical checks, and provide support to the Medical Technologist, with occasional phlebotomy.

The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy in labeling, operation of common lab equipment, and adherence to safety and infection control standards. Prior phlebotomy experience and a HS diploma are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in specimen processing and phlebotomy.
  • Phlebotomy National Agency certification highly desired.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Sort, label, and record patient specimens; prepare materials for tests.
  • Operate centrifuge, timers, cell washer and other lab equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure safety and infection control standards.
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory personnel and external customers.

Overview

Department: Core Lab
Location: BSWH Medical Center Irving TX
Shift: Part-Time – Friday 12pm – 10:30pm, Saturday 12pm – 10:30pm, Sunday 12pm – 9:30pm

Job Summary

The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions, and may perform phlebotomy.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Conduct routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
  • Sort, label, and record patient specimens. Set up specimen, material, and equipment in preparation for the Medical Technologist to perform tests.
  • Operate centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer, and other laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
  • Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
