Job summary

NUS Department of Biological Sciences is seeking a capable technician to provide technical support across teaching, research, and core laboratories. The role includes running experimental trials, supporting students and researchers, and assisting in budgeting and procurement for practical modules and grants.

The incumbent will conduct safety and risk assessments, carry out routine maintenance, and help manage field equipment and core facilities used for teaching and research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related discipline.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques and microscopy preferred.
  • Biodiversity field work experience is a plus.
  • Prior laboratory safety experience is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in teaching, research and core laboratories.
  • Run trials of experiments for teaching activities and practicals.
  • Support students and researchers on research projects.
  • Assist in budget monitoring and procurements for practical modules and grants.
  • Conduct risk assessments for laboratories and assist in safety administration.
  • Undertake scheduled maintenance tasks, safety inspections and asset inventory where needed.
  • Assist in teaching field equipment and maintain core facilities for teaching and research.
  • Support renovation and maintenance matters as required.
