Job summary

Singing River Health System in Gulfport is seeking a Laboratory Technician Assistant to support the specimen control area under supervision of the Coordinator, Section Supervisor, or Director. You will receive and distribute specimens, prepare them for dispatch, and assist with pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory processes.

Responsibilities include routine urinalysis (non-microscopy), quality control and maintenance procedures, and documentation, with compliance to safety and accuracy

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
• Clerical and medical terminology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives and distributes specimens to the Specimen Control area or via pneumatic tube.
• Performs routine urinalysis (non-microscopy) and prepares specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.
• Conducts quality control and preventive maintenance procedures with proper documentation; assists in pre- and post-analytical laboratory processes.
