Job summary

SGS's Wilmington, NC laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the team. The role performs a variety of support tasks for Lab Technicians and Lab Analysts, ensuring quality by following SGS SOPs and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key duties include signing out supplies, maintaining lab consumables, disposing of samples after retention periods, documenting in LIMS, cleaning glassware, and performing administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Preferred: HS diploma with 1-2 years of general work experience.
• Proficient English language skills are required.
• Basic reasoning and mathematical skills are required.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull up to 25 lb regularly.

Responsibilities

• Signs out supplies from supply room.
• Maintains adequate supply of accessories, consumables, chemicals, etc. in each lab, to ensure efficiency of production work.
• Disposes of samples after the appropriate retention period.
• Documents in LIMS and disposes of expired/depleted chemicals.
• Assembles non-treated in-house media.
• Decontaminates/cleans laboratory glassware, containers, accessories, etc., following SOPs.
• Performs administrative tasks, as needed.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.
