UPMC Presbyterian Automated Testing Lab is hiring for Laboratory Support Technician, Medical Lab Technician (MLT), or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) on a full-time daytime shift in Pittsburgh. Salaries start at $23.44/hour for MLT and $28.90/hour for MLS with a generous sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, and 2+ years experience as a Specimen Processor in a clinical lab, OR
• Associate degree with biology and chemistry coursework and 1 year of Specimen Processor experience in a clinical lab, OR
• Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification with 1 year of Specimen Processor experience in a clinical lab, OR
• 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training, OR
• B.S. in biological/clinical laboratory science or MLS program enrollment with 3 years college credits

Responsibilities

• All duties of a Specimen Processor
• Performs routine instrument maintenance and records temperatures if required
• Restocks supplies and maintains storage areas for various temperatures
• Prepares and replenishes reagents and consumables
• Performs QA/QC procedures as assigned
• Assists with specimen/slide storage and retrieval
• Checks pending work lists and resolves unprocessed work
• Maintains clean work area and proper disposal of glassware and lab waste
• Transports specimens and delivers supplies as required
• Prepares specimens for testing and builds worklists
• Prepares microscopic slides and growth media as required

Education

High School diploma or equivalent requirement with 2+ years Specimen Processor experience OR Associate degree with biology/chemistry courses and 1 year patient lab experience OR Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant cert and 1 year experience OR military medical lab training OR MLS/MLT program enrollment with 3 years college credits
