Job summary

Mercy - Rogers is seeking a Lab Support Technician (LST I) to join the provider care team. The role focuses on accurate, timely laboratory support, including specimen collection and processing, with emphasis on HIPAA compliance and excellent customer service.

The LST I contributes to reports, data handling, and scheduling duties as part of Mercy’s standards. Education: high school diploma required; BLS within 6 months of hire; preferred chemistry/biology coursework and prior clinical lab

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification: BLS within 6 months of hire.
• Preferred Education: College level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses.
• Preferred Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Provide laboratory support and accurate handling of specimens.
• Process, transport and refer laboratory specimens and reports as required.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and comply with lab policies.
• Assist with data, reports and scheduling functions within the laboratory.
• Deliver excellent customer service in line with Mercy Signature Service.

Find your calling at Mercy! TheLab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
