Job summary

Mercy in Oklahoma City is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician (LST II) to assist in the provider care team by handling specimens, data, and scheduling for the laboratory. The role requires accurate, timely, and courteous service aligning with Mercy Signature Service Standards.

The LST II will perform specimen collection, process lab orders, and support testing workflows while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 6 months of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience.
• Completion of a clinical training program may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with specimen collection and handling for laboratory testing.
• Support reporting, data entry and scheduling functions in the lab.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and Mercy Service Standards in all interactions.

The Laboratory Support Technician (LST II) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support mechanisms. The LST II will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service Standards with all customer interactions. The LST II is responsible for the skillful acquisition of all required types of specimens, As required, for laboratory testing utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

6 months phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience of successful completion of a clinical training program.

Other

The LST II position must: satisfactorily complete the specific facility competencies, including but not limited to checklist, written examination, management observation, etc., to be eligible for advancement to the next higher job description.
