Job summary

Avantor in Waltham/MA is seeking an inventory and lab support associate to manage replenishments, cycle counts, barcode scanning, and POU inventory. You will prepare and distribute lab materials and ensure compliance with SOPs and quality standards.

The role requires a 1+ year background in inventory or warehouse roles, familiarity with SAP/Oracle or ERP systems, and the ability to lift 50 pounds. A high school diploma is required, with strong organizational and communication skills essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year in inventory management, material handling, warehouse ops, supply chain, or lab support.
  • Experience in pharma/biotech/manufacturing or regulated environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, stock control, and POU inventory management.
  • Familiarity with handling chemicals, reagents, hazardous materials, and biohazard waste.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with SAP/Oracle or other ERP platforms.
  • Experience with barcode scanning systems and handheld devices.
  • Familiarity with inventory tracking software and computerized records.

Responsibilities

  • Manage laboratory inventory through replenishment, cycle counts, barcode scanning, audits, and POU inventory management.
  • Prepare, label, and distribute buffers, media, reagents, and laboratory materials per SOPs and quality standards.
  • Collect, wash, sterilize, inspect, and redistribute laboratory glassware using washers, autoclaves, and lab equipment.
  • Support daily lab operations by maintaining availability of chemicals, reagents, consumables, and critical supplies.
  • Safely handle hazardous materials and biohazard waste while complying with GMP/GLP and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, batch, and operation records using inventory and lab management systems.
  • Support readiness through equipment checks, cleanliness, audits, inspections, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with lab staff to provide exceptional service and cross-functional support.

In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission‑based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Waltham, MA and Lexington, MA

Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM - Monday - Friday

Hourly pay range: $22.00 - $24.03

Education
What we’re looking for
  • High school diploma or GED required
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in inventory management, material handling, warehouse operations, supply chain, or laboratory support
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, manufacturing, or other regulated environments preferred
  • Experience with cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, stock control, and Point of Use (POU) inventory management
  • Familiarity with handling chemicals, reagents, hazardous materials, and biohazard waste.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook
  • Experience using inventory management systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other ERP platforms
  • Experience with barcode scanning systems and handheld devices
  • Familiarity with inventory tracking software and computerized recordkeeping systems
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Effective communication and customer service skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience working in GMP, GLP, ISO, or other regulated environments strongly preferred
  • Flexibility to support multiple laboratory and operational functions

Pay Transparency

The expected pre‑tax pay for this position is

$39,000.00 - $62,675.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
