Job summary

Eugenus is hiring a Process and Hardware Engineer in San Jose, CA to support ALD equipment maintenance, upgrades and system integration. This role collaborates with Engineering, Software, QA and materials groups to ensure robust process performance in a cleanroom environment.

You will perform FAT, pre/post-build reviews, and assist with installation and start-up of deposition equipment, while traveling up to 30% as needed.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electronics, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience with semiconductor capital equipment (CVD/ALD preferred).
• Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical and control systems.
• Vacuum assembly and leak testing experience.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs and work in cleanroom environments.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and cleaning of ALD equipment.
• Perform system upgrades and retrofits.
• Maintain facilities support equipment such as pumps, chillers, gas cabinets and abatement systems.
• Perform gas cylinder and liquid precursor canister change outs.
• Create and update work instructions and maintenance procedures.
• Support FAT and pre/post-build design reviews.
• Read gas schematics, BOMs, manuals, ECNs, etc.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Software, QA, and materials teams.
• Provide training and support for New Product Introductions and transfers.

Title: Process and Hardware Engineer

Reports To: Hardware and Process Engineering Manager

Position Type: Regular, Full-time

Location: San Jose, CA

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and cleaning of ALD equipment
• Perform system upgrades and retrofits
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair on facilities support equipment such as pumps, chillers, gas cabinets and abatement systems
• Perform gas cylinder and liquid precursor canister change outs
• Create documents for tool maintenance procedures and checklists
• Create and update Work Instructions
• Perform design reviews pre- and post-build
• Monitor systems, support equipment and facilities parameters and report system performance and issues
• Electrical, mechanical test and troubleshoot system down to component level
• Read gas schematics, BOM structures, manuals, ECNs, etc.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Software, QA, materials groups, etc.
• Support activities associated with pre-installation, installation, and start-up of ALD deposition equipment
• Perform Final Assembly and Test (FAT)
• Perform programming (Robotics, PLC)
• Support New Product Introductions and transfers including providing training

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electronics, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 2+ years of job-related experience on semiconductor capital equipment (CVD/ALD deposition systems preferred)
• Good understanding of mechanical, electrical and control systems
• Vacuum assembly and leak testing experience
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs
• Must be able to use SCBA
• Testing digital and analog systems helpful
• Must be willing to be on call – weekday evenings, weekends – days/nights
• Must be able to travel domestically/internationally up to 30%

• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected

Safety and Environment, PPE

Additionally, because this position generally involves working in a clean room, it requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators and face shields. Handle hazardous, universal wastes and documentation per regulatory requirements and Eugenus’ policies and procedures. Maintain required regulatory trainings in order to sign hazardous waste manifests and properly manage RCRA and Non-RCRA wastes.
