Job summary

The Oldroyd Lab at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, MO is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to support routine day-to-day lab operations.

The role requires 8 hours per week, with a regular schedule of 4 hours on Monday and 4 hours on Wednesday. Responsibilities include cleaning and sterilizing lab materials, maintaining a tidy workspace, and assisting with media preparation as needed.

Qualifications

• Prior laboratory experience is preferred, but students or trainees with relevant coursework in biology, chemistry, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
• Experience with sterile technique or laboratory media preparation is preferred but not required
• An interest in laboratory research or plant science is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Cleaning laboratory materials, glassware, and other items generated from routine media preparation and experiments
• Washing and sterilizing laboratory supplies and equipment
• Supporting general laboratory upkeep to maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Preparing media and stock solutions needed for experiments on an occasional basis
• Assisting with other routine laboratory support tasks as needed
