Job summary

Norton Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a phlebotomy/lab support role on-site to admit patients, process specimens, and manage orders within our LIS. You will handle labeling, pneumatic tube transport, and proper specimen storage while assisting with phlebotomy as needed.

On-the-job training is provided; no prior experience is required, and a genuine drive to care for patients and the community is valued.

Responsibilities

• Admits patients and processes specimens and orders in the LIS; ensures proper patient ID and labeling.
• Operates pneumatic tube system, centrifuges and aliquots specimens, labels tubes, delivers specimens to labs and stores properly.
• Communicates test results to physicians; performs phlebotomy and related duties as approved by Medical Director.

Responsibilities

Admits patients and processes specimens and orders in appropriate LIS system. Ensures proper patient identification and labeling of all specimens or rejects specimens according to policy. Operates the pneumatic tube system, prioritizes specimens into routine and stat, centrifuges and aliquots specimens according to tests ordered, accurately label all tubes, accurately deliver specimens to laboratory areas, and properly store all specimens. Communicate test results to physicians, fax results upon request. Abide by all regulatory and infection control guidelines. Perform phlebotomy, morgue duties, and waived or moderately complex testing as needed and approved by Medical Director.
