Job summary

Sentara Health in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Lab Assistant to serve as the point of entry for all specimens entering the laboratory, label, process, and distribute specimens for testing, and ensure accurate test data entry.

You will interact with hospitals and physician offices, monitor supplies, operate and maintain lab equipment, and support customer inquiries and problem resolution in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma Required.
• Certification/Licensure: None Required.
• Experience: None required.

Responsibilities

• Provides point of entry for all specimens entering the laboratory. Labels, processes, and distributes patient specimens for testing; responsible for registration and test data entry.
• Monitors supply levels in the specimen processing area. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment; responds to internal and external inquiries and resolves problems. Regularly interacts with hospitals, nursing facilities, and physician office staff.
