Job summary

Moog Inc. in Christiansburg, VA is seeking a Lab Specialist to perform a variety of tests and analyses to keep processes within specification.

The role requires maintaining notebooks, interpreting results, calibrating and caring for laboratory equipment, and following safety procedures. You will work with minimal supervision, train others as needed, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while handling hazardous materials in a compliant environment.

Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant experience, education, or a combination with exposure to chemistry or laboratory environments.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal, written and computer work instructions in English.
• Attention to detail and precision in recording and analyzing data.
• Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of tests and analyses for processes to keep them within specification.
• Maintain laboratory notebook documenting all analyses while maintaining online records.
• Accurately interpret analytical results.
• Calibrate, clean, organize, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain a safe laboratory environment by following safety protocols and handling hazardous materials properly.
• Perform analyses using atomic absorption spectroscopy, balances, wet chemistry, microscope, hull cell tests, and other equipment.
• Assist in training / cross-training of others.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement Process.
• Work with minimal supervision.
