Job summary

Precision Castparts in Morgantown, PA, is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee the chemistry lab, ensuring prompt analysis of raw materials and development of new analytical techniques. You will calibrate and maintain lab instruments, build reference material libraries, and implement MOC and MPE initiatives.

The role also entails supervising lab staff, coordinating with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality control, and driving continuous improvement and cost reduction across lab operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field; combined education and experience preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Experience in Special Metals preferred.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of analytical spectrochemical methods for metals.
• Understanding of analytical chemistry and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine methods for routine analysis of raw materials and finished products.
• Calibrate, operate, and maintain all laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Develop and maintain a library of certified and secondary reference materials.
• Implement Management of Change (MOC) and Manufacturing Process Experiments (MPE).
• Supervise and coordinate lab staff and enforce policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with suppliers to drive cost reduction and continuous improvement.
