Job Description

Responsible for the operation of Sample Logistics in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), applicable sections of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), with emphasis on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA), and applicable Takeda and BioLife policies, procedures, and quality initiatives.

Accountabilities

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of sample logistics, pre-analytic operations, and all personnel in their laboratory area.
  • Assist staff, operations, and donor centers with sample logistics issues.
  • Organize and prioritize workloads based on donor center requirements.
  • Ensure remedial actions are taken when systems deviate from performance specifications.
  • Evaluate laboratory systems, processes, procedures, and equipment for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide supervisory support for logistics-related projects.
  • Advise Directors and technical personnel on sample logistics activities.
  • Perform sample logistics functions as needed.
  • Ensure proper training, orientation, and annual performance evaluations of staff.
  • Hire and supervise Sample Logistics staff under the oversight of the Laboratory Services Manager.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain laboratory quality systems.
  • Maintain current procedures for laboratory equipment, including review, maintenance, and quality control.
  • Participate in operational excellence initiatives such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen.
  • Conduct regular visits to operational areas to promote organizational alignment and process focus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Ability to follow SOPs and maintain accurate records.
  • Proven performance and attendance record.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

Preferred: Bachelor’s in medical technology, 5-7 years lab experience, supervisory or training experience, and relevant certifications.
