Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Specimen Accessioner Lab Assistant in Saint Paul, MN. You will receive samples, log them into a computer system, and prepare them for handoff to the lab, supporting pre- and post-analytical steps.

The role operates in a fast-paced production environment with emphasis on accuracy and organization. You will work on the 2nd shift, handle 5,000–11,000 samples daily, and gain opportunities for tuition reimbursement and vacation accrual upon full-time employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with preference for science coursework.
• Desire to advance within the laboratory setting.
• Intermediate computer, typing, and 10-key skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Capacity to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Meet couriers at the door to receive samples from across the USA and internationally.
• Verify samples arrived, inspect for damage, and prepare for entry.
• Operate multiple computer software systems for sample tracking and entry.
• Verify names on samples match requisitions.
• Handle urine samples, with some blood, serum, plasma, and body fluids.
• Create labels and label samples after entry into systems.
• Aliquot samples, centrifuge or freeze to stabilize when needed.
• Manage workflow of sample maintenance in walk-in refrigerators/freezers.
