Job summary

ARKANSAS CHILDREN'S in Little Rock seeks a Laboratory Assistant to support the Gene Classifier to Predict SARS-CoV-2 project. You will read protocols, perform experiments, operate equipment, and help develop and validate lab methods.

Requires a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree preferred) and up to 2 years of related experience. This full-time, on-site position offers hourly pay between $17.20 and $21.50, with safety-sensitive designations and tobacco-free workplace policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field recommended.
• High School Diploma/GED, or 2 years of experience in lieu of a diploma/GED.

Responsibilities

• Reads, understands, and questions clinical research protocols to ensure reliable research results.
• Conducts experiments and assists in experimental design and planning for protocols and the development of new lab methods, assays and experimental techniques.
• Collects laboratory samples and conducts various assays to analyze the samples.
• Learns to operate lab equipment needed to conduct all aspects of research protocols.
• Prepares reports of lab results.
• Understands the MSDS's of any chemical and/or radioactive materials in the lab. Keeps records of radioactive and chemical usage and disposes radioactivity and chemicals appropriately as required by law.
• Works closely with supervisor(s) to ensure proper procedures are carried out by various lab personnel to meet deadlines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
