Job summary

The Ohio State University’s Otolaryngology department seeks a Research Aide and Interviewer to support NIH-funded projects in Eye and Ear Institute. This temporary, 40-hour position offers hands-on experience in a clinical research setting.

You will perform routine lab tasks (PCR, gel electrophoresis, basic assays, cell culture) and process samples under close supervision, maintaining meticulous records and helping with data collection and literature searches.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or associate degree required.
• Background check is required; pre-employment physical and drug screen may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory procedures (PCR, gel electrophoresis, basic assays, cell culture).
• Process tissue and blood samples; maintain accurate records.
• Prepare materials/equipment and monitor supplies; support day-to-day lab operations.
• Collect and organize data; assist with literature searches and orient new staff to simple lab tasks.
• Assist with animal procedures as needed.
