Job summary

Kennametal in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to manage daily lab operations, ensure ISO 9001 compliance, and lead a team of technicians. The role focuses on testing tungsten products, developing methods, and maintaining data integrity across finished, in-process, and raw materials.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Chemistry or Engineering and strong supervisory, analytical, and communication skills, with experience in inorganic chemistry and metallurgy preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Engineering (preferred).
• Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality systems.
• Experience with inorganic chemistry and metals/metallurgy is preferred.
• Proficient in testing techniques and data analysis.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related programs.
• Ability to analyze laboratory data and support process decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the laboratory.
• Promote the lab safety culture within the facility.
• Perform analysis on tungsten and tungsten carbide products using testing equipment and instrumentation.
• Maintain testing methods and data integrity for finished, in-process, and raw materials.
• Assign tasks and mentor lab personnel; coach and develop staff.
• Develop and document testing methods for new or upgraded instruments; train staff.
