Job summary

At SPL, a detail-oriented Quality Specialist is sought to support our environmental lab team in Kilgore, TX. The role focuses on maintaining the QMS to ensure ISO 17025 compliance and data integrity across audits, CAPA, and documentation in a high-throughput environment.

You will collaborate with lab and operations teams, review data and reports for accuracy, and help drive continuous improvement within the LIMS framework and GLP expectations.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of professional experience in laboratory quality, QA/QC, or quality systems roles.
• Working knowledge of ISO 17025, NELAC/TNI, or similar regulatory standards.
• Experience supporting or managing quality documentation, audits, and CAPA processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 17025, NELAC/TNI, and internal standards.
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation and follow-up.
• Investigate and track non-conformances and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• Review laboratory data, reports, and client deliverables for accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
• Maintain controlled quality documentation, including SOPs, method validations, and change records.
• Support proficiency testing (PT) programs and interlaboratory comparisons.
• Monitor instrument calibration, verification, and maintenance records.

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Quality Specialist to support our environmental lab team in Kilgore, TX.

In this role, you will help maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 17025, NELAC/TNI, and client requirements. You’ll work closely with laboratory and operations teams to support audits, corrective actions, data quality, and documentation processes in a regulated, high-throughput environment.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 17025, NELAC/TNI, and internal standards
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation and follow-up
• Investigate and track non-conformances and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
• Review laboratory data, reports, and client deliverables for accuracy, traceability, and compliance
• Maintain controlled quality documentation, including SOPs, method validations, and change records
• Support proficiency testing (PT) programs and interlaboratory comparisons
• Monitor instrument calibration, verification, and maintenance records
• Assist with statistical quality control (SQC), data trending, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Track training records and competency documentation
• Maintain accurate, compliant, and review-ready quality records and systems within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Collaborate with laboratory staff to reinforce quality procedures, GLP, and regulatory requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or relevant scientific discipline
• 1+ years of professional experience in laboratory quality, QA/QC, or quality systems roles, preferably within an accredited or regulated environment
• Working knowledge of ISO 17025, NELAC/TNI, or similar regulatory standards
• Experience supporting or managing quality documentation, audits, and CAPA processes preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) ; experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) strongly preferred

Work Schedule & Travel
