The primary function of this position is to receive and process patient specimens delivering them to the appropriate departments, ensures specimens and requisitions are correctly labeled, validate requisitions against orders in the system, processes specimens for reference laboratories, make sure results are sent to the proper providers, investigates and resolves problem specimens, answers and makes phone calls, faxes results, access patient requisitions/labels, keeps work flow at a smooth pace, and assists with supply chain and inventory. Teaches all new employees and students how to process specimens, etc.
PRN Status Clause:
This is a PRN as-needed position, you must be available to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. You may be required to work additional hours if requested by your supervisor to accomplish work objectives. Work hours may vary (increase or decrease) depending on the needs of the unit.
