Job summary

BQE Water Inc. seeks an intermediate Lab Process Engineer for our Mount Pleasant lab. The role focuses on laboratory and pilot testing, process development, and data analysis to improve water treatment technologies for mining clients.

Candidates should have 3–5+ years in the field, a bachelor in a relevant discipline, and safety-focused lab experience. Senior roles considered for exceptional candidates, with strong writing and client-facing skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD level education is an asset; a Bachelor’s in Metallurgy, Hydrometallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Water Treatment, Mining Engineering or related discipline is the minimum.
• 3–5+ years of relevant industry experience in one or more of the disciplines above.
• At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience, including process testing, experimental design, and data collection.
• Experience with water and wastewater treatment processes is a significant asset.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety with chemical handling and lab procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out laboratory and pilot testing programs with detailed test plans.
• Coordinate with Lab Technologists to set up experimental apparatus and bench-scale testing.
• Perform lab, pilot, and plant data analysis, mass balances, and interpret results for process development.
• Write, review, and edit lab reports, technical memos, design reports and conference or journal papers.
• Develop process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, and prepare PFDs, P&IDs, GA sheets.
