Job summary

Tennessee Oncology in Nashville seeks a Laboratory Phlebotomist to collect patient specimens for laboratory testing in an outpatient setting. You will perform venipunctures and capillary collections following safety guidelines and document results in the LIS.

Responsibilities include quality assurance, inventory control of reagents, and reporting any deviations to management. Requires strong phlebotomy skills, 2 years of clinical lab experience preferred, high school diploma, and phlebotomy

Qualifications

• Demonstrates ability to perform clean venipunctures and capillary collections.
• Follows guidelines for safe handling of blood, body fluids and hazardous chemicals.
• Maintains knowledge of procedures, practices and ongoing quality assurance activities.
• Documents corrective actions when test systems deviate from specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and capillary collections in outpatient settings.
• Record lab testing data and ensure accuracy in LIS documentation.
• Monitor inventory levels of reagents and supplies; notify when issues arise.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance and report to management.
