Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville, FL seeks a Lab PAA/Phlebotomist Lead to oversee clerical and phlebotomy operations and to train staff. This role partners with the lab team to ensure accurate specimen collection and processing.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least 6 months of lab experience, completed phlebotomy training (240 hours) and leadership background. CPR certification is required to support patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• 6 months of laboratory experience (clinical or hospital-based) required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program (240 hours) preferred.
• Leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee clerical/LPAA operations, including clerical support of laboratory operations, problem resolution, technical development and procedure implementation, etc.
• Evaluate and train phlebotomy staff.
• Perform routine Laboratory clerical procedures.
• Collect patient specimens; accessions and distributes specimens and/or blood products.
• Prepare specimens for analysis.
• Prepare blood products for patient and of blood products.

• Oversee clerical/LPAA operations, including clerical support of laboratory operations, problem resolution, technical development and procedure implementation, etc.

• Perform routine Laboratory clerical procedures

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school graduate
• 6 months previous laboratory experience clinical or hospital based is required
• Completion of phlebotomy training program (240 hours) preferred
• Experience in a Leadership position, preferred

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Must possess or be eligible for national certification in phlebotomy

Certification in CPR is required

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a 'non-frequent driver' NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
